“Twenty To Texas”

This is a song that Jesse had written towards the end of our time playing as a band and because of that it was never recorded…until about 2 weeks ago.

Jesse recently set up the old recording equipment and played/recorded all the parts for this on his own (and in typical Melmac recording fashion… in his basement).

I don’t believe many people have heard this outside of the band so this could be a welcome surprise to some of you.

Hope you enjoy it!

I’ll post lyrics up as soon as I transcribe them.

“To You and Your Short Fuse”

This is another acoustic demo that Jesse recorded at home.  We also had a full band arrangement and if you saw us live in 2003/2004 then you definitely heard this one.

If we ever recorded again this would probably be the first song we did (…there is actually a scratch recording somewhere of the full band arrangement on minidisc.  If I could just find it…)

Lyrics:

And I don’t miss you anymore
Don’t want to kiss you anymore
And when you walked right out the door
I saw a teardrop hit the floor and it wasn’t mine

She said “Don’t go there”
Whoa Whoa Yeah Yeah

I’d like to know where we went wrong
And now it’s been so long since I’ve been this confused but now i’m getting used
To you and your short fuse and I will always loose
Cause there’s no way to win
Your hanging up again
But you won’t see me dialing

Cause I don’t miss you anymore
Don’t want to kiss you anymore
And when you walked right out the door
I saw a teardrop hit the floor and it wasn’t mine

She said “You don’t care”
Whoa Whoa Yeah Yeah

I’m gonna been up all damn night
Thinking about this fight and if I’m wrong or right
I guess she’s pissed at me she blew a kiss at me and said I’m history
She won’t be missing me
It took till now to see
We weren’t meant to be

But I don’t miss you anymore
Don’t want to kiss you anymore
And when you walked right out the door
I saw a teardrop hit the floor but it wasn’t mine
It wasn’t mine

Cause its a real big world
And there’ll be other girls
I bet you didn’t know
That I could watch you go

“George Bailey vs. The World”

I think Jesse recorded this sometime in 2003.  The title is inspired by one of his favorite movies “Its a Wonderful Life”.

We always wanted to record it as a full band but this acoustic recording is really powerful all on its own.

Lyrics:

I’m trying
To keep my chin up
But my life feels like a test
And there’s no cheat sheet up my sleave

I don’t have all the answers
So now i’m hoping for the best
I’ll see what’s next
And what’s the best for me

What’s the use in complaining
I’ll pretend the sun is shining
Even though I know it’s raining

Everything around me is changing
Don’t want to play their games
You know it’s such a shame

It’s all fun and games until I loose my mind
Will someone please draw the line
I see them getting theirs but someday i’ll get mine
I made it this far i’ll be fine yeah

I’m chasing
Down all these dreams
But my legs are tired
And my motivation gauge is on E

I’m thinking
Maybe this time
Everything will go as planned
So i’ll just give it hell and wait and see

Instead of complaining
I’ll pretend the sun is shining
Even though I know it’s raining

And when I catch these dreams I’ll write
In a letter
“To whom it may concern”
“Things just took a turn for the better”

And it’s all fun and games until I loose my mind
Will someone please draw the line
But until then i’ll be fine yeah

(I’ll be fine)
I’m chasing down all these dreams
I’m sick of playing these games
and seems I’m gonna loose my mind
(I’ll be fine)
I’m chasing down all these dreams
I’m sick of playing these games
and seems I’m gonna loose my mind
(I’ll be fine)
And I know i’ll be fine this time
And no one can take away these dreams cause their mine

And i’ll be fine
