“Twenty To Texas”

This is a song that Jesse had written towards the end of our time playing as a band and because of that it was never recorded…until about 2 weeks ago.

Jesse recently set up the old recording equipment and played/recorded all the parts for this on his own (and in typical Melmac recording fashion… in his basement).

I don’t believe many people have heard this outside of the band so this could be a welcome surprise to some of you.

I’ll post lyrics up as soon as I transcribe them.

Hi, My name is Mya and I am Joeys cousin. I and a friend long time back went to see you guys play. Ive met Jesse and a couple of the guys once or twice but music (sadly) isnt one of my biggest interest. HOWEVER- My 10 year old son plays your songs n..o..n..e… s..t..o..p. AND now my niece (16) has discovered you and has requested c.d’s from joey with any and all music you guys have done. Anyway, just wanted to let you all know that even though you may not be currently recording (etc) you still gain new fans all the time. PS- If I have to watch your music video one more time I might scream, LOL. For my sanity please if nothing else just make new ones, my kid is killing me w/ the replay button. My best to you all, Mya

“To You and Your Short Fuse”

This is another acoustic demo that Jesse recorded at home. We also had a full band arrangement and if you saw us live in 2003/2004 then you definitely heard this one.

If we ever recorded again this would probably be the first song we did (…there is actually a scratch recording somewhere of the full band arrangement on minidisc. If I could just find it…)

“George Bailey vs. The World”

I think Jesse recorded this sometime in 2003. The title is inspired by one of his favorite movies “Its a Wonderful Life”.

We always wanted to record it as a full band but this acoustic recording is really powerful all on its own.

Ever since Melmac broke up I have been thinking about what to do with our website.

I know I wanted to keep a history of our music online somewhere; songs we released and songs we didn’t. So at least this site will serve as that history - with links to the highest quality versions of songs I can find (while digging through CDs and tapes we made throughout the years). It will try to also document the songs that we never got to finish (and maybe inspire us to once and for all record them properly for you).

It is awesome how much technology has changed since we built the first website for our band in 1999. Instead of online stores we had printable mail order forms, kept our merch inventory on print outs in my parents basement, mp3.com was used to share songs, video wasn’t an option, we planned shows/tours over phone calls more than emails (having a spreadsheet of contact numbers and directions), etc…

So because technology has improved one of the other things I was looking to turn this website into was a place where you could send us your memories so that we can post them as well. If you have anything you want to add to our history please feel free to send them to us through the form on this page: http://melmac34.net/submit. It can be anything from photos, music, quotes, video, text, links… whatever you can find if time permits.

I hope you know that you were just as much a part of Melmac as we were. Thank you for your kind words over the years, your voices at shows, your handshakes and high-fives.
